An introduction to Inspired Quills

Welcome to Inspired Quills, a Harry Potter Alternate Universe. This means that it is open for loads of creativity and experimentation of different directions and plots that could have happened in J. K. Rowling’s series.

A lot of new ideas and possibilities for the Wizarding World are being discussed and coming to life as we speak, with a preliminary explanation of new characters being brought to life in here.

Like any game, thing to be learned, place to explore, and virtually everything fun in the world - Inspired Quills has its own set of Inspired Rules that need to be checked out. After all, what happens to a witch or wizard when they try Apparition without listening to the rules? They get splinched. Merlin knows we don't want the same to happen to you!

Characters and Roleplaying
Now that you know what our world is, are you curious as to where exactly you fit into this Harry Potter Universe? There is no reason to be uncertain, because not only is there a lot of space for you on Inspired Quills, there also are an incredible amount of options!

Student Characters
For starters, you can be a student (pick a year, any year!) in any of the houses. In case you have forgotten, there’s Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin to choose from, and you can sign up for the house of your pick at our Sorting Hat! (All you have to do, is wrestle a troll – no big deal). Picking the year happens when you submit your character for approval here.

Each house has its own common room, house activities, and eventually a Quidditch team as they strive each semester to win the House Cup. As a student, you can participate in lessons and earn housepoints for your house, as well as support your team in whatever endeavors it goes though (like Quidditch or Tournaments).

You can roleplay walking around the Hogwarts grounds or in the school with fellow students, professors, or other Hogwarts life. Of course, none of this is available during the summer, seeing as all of the students get a break from schoolwork and get to spend a carefree couple of months back at home or wherever they live. Ah, the joys of being a kid!

Other Characters
If puberty, acne, and awkward interactions are not quite your cup of tea then there are other things for you to do as well. You could play an adult who has graduated from Hogwarts or another magical school, or have even been a squib! There are also ghosts and house-elves, and maybe even some intelligent “creatures” that could be played as well.

As an adult, you can roleplay having a job (with the possibilities of Ministry of Magic official, Professor, shop owner, animal breeder, or musician to merely start you on your creative thinking), going places with other adults, or even be the parent of current children.

Canon Characters
And as if these options were not enough for you, canon characters are up for grabs as well! And in fact, if you are thinking to yourself that you would like to have a student as well as an adult , that is ok as well! As long as you can keep up, you can create different characters. Of course, that does not mean that every character you ask for will be allowed – non-canon characters will be much more likely to be accepted than canon ones and the longer you have been around, certainly helps.

Creating Your Character
When you have decided what sort of character(s) you would like to use, you will need to write a character description. You can view previously made character descriptions in the Character Profiles forum for inspiration and a little help. Then you can go to the Roleplaying Guidelines and read all about the specific rules for Inspired Quills.

Your character description to be viewed by IQ's Character Application Moderators. If your application is accepted, you will be added to he roleplaying usergroup, if not you will need to submit another application according to the guidelines that the person who checked your application suggested to you. After your application is created (whether it is for your student or adult character) you can enjoy the full extent of what Inspired Quills has to offer and explore the various environments and places that are brought to life on the site!
