Sectumsempra healing

Postby Prof. Severus Snape on Sun Aug 30, 2009 3:25 pm

I thought I remembered how in the sixth book, after Harry "tries out" Sectumsempra on Draco, Snape heals Draco and fixes him up pretty well, pretty fast.

And yet, when Snape's own sectumsempra accidentally hits George Weasley in book 7, it is said that "it has been cursed off, so it can't be healed".

At least, I think that's how it went.
Am I wrong? Am I missing something?
Or is Snape the only one who is skilled enough to cure Sectumsempra-cursed injuries?

Or is it perhaps because a whole part of the ear was lost?

Personally I figured that because they didn't acutally have the ear, they couldn't attack it. As where Draco had both sides of the cuts, so it was able to be fixed. Though it would make sense seeing that Professor Snape made the spell he would be the one to know how to counter it.

I think since the whole ear was removed, and as Troy said, they didn't have it, they couldn't attach another ear. I doubt anything that wasn't his would have attached to cursed flesh. I also think that Snape having been there right away for Draco was a major factor. (Damn those non-verbal spells! I'd love to know what Snape used.) Snape also having had experience with Dark Magic, and having created the spell, most likely made a huge difference.

Or we can chalk this right up there with why every Sept. 1st falls on a Sunday... ;)

I guess I'm amazed that it wouldn't be possible to regrow an ear, I mean after all Madame Pomfrey can regrow bones and teeth and all sorts of things that shouldn't be possible. Even if they couldn't find the ear, you'd think that she would have been able to do something so simple as regrow a bit of flesh and what not...

wouldn't they be able to transfigure an ear from someone else? sort of like how muggles have organ transplants?
